Hand in hand with digital music instruments, musicians rely heavily on generative visuals to help spice up their content to better engage with their audience. The .Wav hub allows you to connect with visual artists that can deliver ready to go models that can be mapped directly to your .Wav board for immediate, unique, and high production visuals.

How It’s Made

Once all preliminary research and form ideation brought me to the final .WAV product, I started experimenting with the tech behind making a playable prototype alongside creating a looks like model to best simulate the interaction.

Experiment 1

The OKAY Synth : I bought a 3d printed assemble yourself kit to solder and build my own mini piano synth. It helped me better understand the different components required to adjust pitch, volume, and have an immediate output.

Experiment 2

I purchased all separate parts and created a sketch to sync to the Abelton Midi software so I could program all my buttons to fit with professional midi software platforms.

Making It Work

To create a touch to play interaction on the .WAV instrument, I used copper inserts connected to an Arduino+Adafruit Capacitive Touch shields, to create a working prototype that could then be translated and programmed through the Ableton Software.
