Somnu: an at home sleep study That delivers better data & accurate results
In collaboration with Jonathan Goldblatt, Matthew O’Rourke, and Srishti Bhalla
The leading cause of poor sleep in America is sleep apnea which leads to a myriad of medical conditions like diabetes, anxiety and even heart failure. In order to be diagnosed with sleep apnea a patient needs to undergo a sleep study either in a sleep clinic or at home. Both of which yield inaccurate results due to uncomfortable and unfamiliar sleep environments.
An at home apnea test requires a 4-5 different devices that need to be on the body and undisturbed throughout the night.
Somnu is an at home sleep apnea test that utilizes imaging and computer vision to circumvent cumbersome technology.
Thermal Imaging: Track respiration, heart rate blood oxygen levels, REM sleep cycles, and muscle impulse
Infrared Imaging: Give a better context to thermal imaging data
Directional Mic: Track snoring and excessive movement
CV/ML Algorithms: Run analytics on the data
Somnu is designed to be accessible and easy to set up. Once delivered to your home download the Somnu app to get step by step directions to place, sync, and set up a recording session.
Somnu’s application and software platform creates digestible and accessible data for both you and your physician.
Somnu software will flag relevant sections for the reviewing physician, resulting in less time spent watching hours of footage and more time spent serving patients.
Once you’re finished with your recorded sessions simply send back the equipment to get your results.
Once your physician reviews your recorded data they will be able to give you an accurate diagnosis that you are able to easily refer back to through your own Somnu app.
The Somnu Business Plan
Somnu is developed based off of cutting edge products and research from top universities. Other companies that provide at home sleep apnea tests have yet to tap into this technology.
