AR Camo : Protecting your digital self
With changing privacy authentication requirements going from place to place (depending on who the stakeholders are in each situation), there is potential for new ways to make those indications. We each have a digital version of ourselves cluttered by our digital output. How can we have physical items that trigger authentication that can serve as digital camo to protect our digital avatars.
Digital Camo explores how AR clothing/masks that can be triggered based off of your clothing patterns/topography and facial structure to serve as digital camouflage.
Digital Camo Jacket : I created a jacket that was reflected when photographed obscuring the wearer and also created a digital camo barrier when seen through an AR platform. (Vuforia & Unity)
Prototyping:
I did some fabric sampling to see what types of patterns could be easily tracked through image recognition.
Using Unity and Vuforia I associated 3d Objects to patterns of fabric
The video on the left was a test to see how well patterns would read on a soft curved plane in Vuforia and what types of fabrics would be most reliable.
I became interested in the idea of creating topographic fabrics as opposed to 2d pattern based ones that still needs to be tested.
Facial Obscurity : AR mask experimentation (SparkAR & Instagram)
